| Road Ecology Research Interest Dr. Berry's longterm research program focuses on biological nitrogen fixation and ecosystem nitrogen cycling patterns. Her interest in road ecology is twofold: to examine the impacts of vehicle emissions on roadside vegetation including shifts to invasive species, and on the microbial communities associated with these plant communities, that may in turn be determinants of community composition. |

| Road Ecology Research Interest Dr. Harrison studies California grasslands that are heavily invaded and largely dominated by Mediterranean annual species. Her research indicates that grasslands farther from roads are significantly less invaded and more native-dominated than grasslands closer to roads (Safford & Harrison 2001; Harrison, et al. 2002; Gelbard & Harrison 2003). |

| Road Ecology Research Interest Dr. Quinn directs activities at the Information Center for the Environment (ICE) and the National Biological Information Infrastructure's California Information Node (NBII-cain). He uses geospatial information technologies to assess biodiversity, land use, water quality, and ecosystem health and restoration - much of it as joint projects with state and federal agencies. |
