California Roadkill Observation System begins critical special study

Event Date

As some of you know, the California Roadkill Observation System (http://wildlifecrossing.net/california) is starting a special study to measure rates of carcass disappearance from the roadway. After less than 24 hours, we received 23 enthusiastic replies from people wanting to participate. Agency and public volunteer-scientists will record when roadkill is lost from the roadside. These measurements will allow us to estimate the total rate of roadkill on state roads and highways. This is a huge advance for roadkill studies in the state and because we are the largest project of its kind in the country, this is huge for the US too.
