National Center for Sustainable Transportation (NCST)

The National Center for Sustainable Transportation is one of five national centers funded by state and federal transportation funds to support research into innovative ways to improve the sustainability of transport systems. The Institute of Transportation Studies at the University of California, Davis (ITS-Davis) leads the NCST in partnership with California State University, Long Beach; the University of California, Riverside; the University of Southern California; Georgia Institute of Technology; and the University of Vermont. Supported studies range from bicycle use patterns to new types of fuels and batteries. Research at the Road Ecology Center has been consistently supported by the NCST as the only entity focusing on ecological-sustainability.
