VTTI is a national leader in key areas of reducing risk of collisions between vehicles and wildlife. They have prioneered "naturalistic driving surveys", including drivers' reactions to wildlife entering roadways. Understanding drivers' instantaneous responses to animals near or in the road helps avoid collisions. VTTI has also perfected a roadside animal detection ssytem (RADS) involving the use of a "buried cable" which is capable of detecting animals moving across the road shoulder and warning drivers. We have partnered with VTTI scientists on ways to improve the use of RADS by transportation organizations.
